Style:
Agata's work captures natural beauty. In all of her portraits, a raw and untouched beauty is emphasized. Her work is rooted in the subjects of her photos. Agate always gets to know the person she is photographing before she takes the pictures. She wants the viewer to get to know the subject of her pictures. Common themes among her photos are black and white filters, and freckles!!

Philosophy:
Agata loves a good challenge! This is why she is dedicated to portraying a meaning through each of her portraits. Through each photograph, she wants to FEEL something, whether that is the subject's pain, happiness, etc. In a sense, Agata wants the viewer to be able to 'meet' the subject through the photo. She loves depicting stories through the pictures she captures.

Influences:
Agata has definitely had a positive influence on my own work. She has inspired me to pay closer attention to the lighting of each photo, since it can alter the mood. Since discovering her work, I have learned not to over-edit my portraits, and that blemishes and freckles are natural and add dimension to photos. I now understand the importance of poses and angles when taking all types of photographs- they can make or break your photo. Finally, her work has taught me that black and white photos are beautiful and add an aspect of drama to a photo.

Compare/Contrast:
"Untitled (Anger)" and "Serious"
The first obvious difference between Agata's photos and mine are the differently colored backgrounds. This causes Agata's photos to be more dramatic than mine. Another difference between the two photos is how defined the collarbone of the subject of Agata's photo is. I think my photo is similarly framed compared to Agata's. Also, the subject of my photo has the same level of anger in her eyes as the subject of Agata's photo.
"Untitled (Look Back)" and "Natural"
A difference between these two photos is slightly different angles. Agata's photo is from a higher vantage point and slightly to the left. Another difference is the placement of the subject's chin. I think the subject of my photo could have angled her chin more downward. Both photos are very similar in the posing of the subject. Also, I think the hair in both photos looks very similar.
"Untitled (Intense Eyes)" and "Freckled"
The subject of Agata's photo is not centered in the frame, like the subject of mine is. Another difference is the lighting of the photo. The lighting of my photo isn't as intense as the lighting of Agata's. However, the hair of both photos is very similar in positioning. Finally, both subjects have very similar facial expressions.

Personal Artist Statement:
Since my pictures are black and white, I believe they are very dramatic and expressive. I think I used contrast well in these photos, using the white background against the subject's dark hair. I made sure the subject was the emphasis of the photo, by not adding any distracting features to the photos. I also think the balance of my photos is spot on, since the subject is in the center of each photo, it is formal balance. Finally, I portrayed texture in my photos, by taking them close up, and of the freckles of the subject's face.
